Show us Your Life - Adoptions

Today, over at Kelly's Korner, she is hosting Show Us Your Life - Adoptions.
I am so excited to participate! If you have been reading my blog for any length of time, you know that we are very proud of our adoption story, and very proud to be the parents to a beautiful baby boy brought to us through the miracle of adoption.
I have documented our entire adoption journey here on my blog, so I'm just going to list the links from where I originally posted.

I know that seems like a lot of posts, but that's not all of them. If you want to see all my posts on adoption, just click on the adoption label under this post.
If you have any questions, please leave me a comment, and I promise to answer them. Or if you prefer, send me an e-mail at katiebug810 (at) hotmail (dot) com.
Thanks for stopping by my blog, and I can't wait to read all of the other adoption stories that are linked up at Kelly's Korner.

Show us your life - Christmas Trees

Over at Kelly's Korner, is Show us your Life - Christmas trees. I put up my trees this past Sunday, and am so excited to show them off. This is my main Christmas Tree in the living room. It is a real Douglas Fir Tree. We have had a real tree every year since we've been married. This one is the biggest we've ever gotten. My ornaments are just a good variety. I don't have a "theme" or a color scheme. I have several that have special meaning. Like this one from Hamburg. My Jennifer gave this to me last year for Christmas when she was living there. It's really special now that I have gone to Hamburg. This ornament I got at Buckingham Palace when I was in London earlier this year. I got each one of these ornaments for my fur babies for their first Christmas. This tree is made from kudzu, and my friend Jessica's Mom made it. I blogged about it last year when I got it. I have it sitting on a small table in my entry way.

The last tree is my small ceramic tree that I painted several years ago. I have it sitting on top of my china cabinet. When I was little, we had a tree just like this, so when I saw it at the pottery store to paint, I had to get it to continue the tradition.
Thanks for taking a look, and I will post more of my Christmas decorations when the Nester does her Christmas tour of Homes. Until then, Merry Christmas!

Show Us your Life - Favorite Vacation Spots

Today's Show us Your Life with Kelly's Korner is all about favorite vacation spots. Andrew and I have gone on many wonderful vacations, and to pick one would be very difficult. On the right hand side of my blog, you can see pictures from all the places we've been. I think my favorite place I went was Europe. This past March, I had the opportunity to visit my friend Jennifer in Hamburg, Germany. I was there for 9 days. And it was the most fun I've ever had on vacation. It wasn't one of the most "relaxing" vacations I ever had. We were go...go...go... the whole time. We also took a 3 day trip to London! We were able to hit all the major tourist spots, but would have loved to stay for much longer. You can read about my trip to Germany Here and London Here.
As far as my favorite relaxing vacation spot, that would be Puerto Vallarta, Mexico. Andrew and I celebrated 4 years of marriage in PV in May, 2008. The entire week was full of relaxation. What a great way to spend a vacation. Lots of time at the pool and on the beach. We also were able to go to a secluded island called Las Caletas, for "Rhythms of the Night." "An exhilarating spectacle, where stories of an ancient civilization are told through live music and modern dance as one of Mexico's most innovative contemporary dance troupes transport you on a magical and mystical journey through time" (Taken from the web-site) There is also a dinner buffet where you actually eat on the beach. It was a great experience.
Another excursion we were able to do while in Mexico was the Canopy Tour. What a great way to see the Sierra Madre Mountains. It was an exhilarating journey as we were able to explore high above the jungle floor via zip lines, suspended walkways and platforms, by scaling the Crazy Ladder and descending via rappels. The whole experience was so much fun!
We ended the week with a couples massage. What a way to end a perfect week!
Don't we look relaxed?
I am in the process of planning next years vacation. I wonder where we will go...Hopefully I will get a lot of ideas from others during the "Show us your Life - Favorite Vacation Spots." Thanks for looking, and come back again.

SHOW US YOUR LIFE - Wedding Reception & Honeymoon

Today on Kelly's Korner is Show us your life - Wedding Reception & Honeymoon!
Andrew and I had our reception at Furman University in the room that overlooks the rose garden. We got married in May, so the roses were in full bloom.
Here we are in the rose garden, waiting to go up the reception. We had a dinner buffet and it was so yummy. My Mom made my wedding cake, and it was absolutely beautiful.
(The only thing about where we had our reception was that we couldn't have dancing. I would have loved to have dancing, but it wasn't that big of a deal to us. The tables were decorated with a simple vase with a Gerber Daisy, a rose, and some filler. We did all the flowers ourselves, which is a huge cost saving idea. My sister did all the flowers for her wedding, so we had some experience. As wedding favors, we gave out clear boxes full of purple/white or pink/white M&M's. So we had a box sitting at each place setting on the tables.
For our Honeymoon, we went on a Royal Caribbean Cruise to the Bahamas.
Talk about excited...
Sunset on our first nightOn Coco Cay - Royal Caribbean's private island
Our Ship in Nassau

Before Dinner one night
Parasailing

Our honeymoon was wonderful. The food was so great, and the service was unlike anything I have ever experienced. That is where I fell in love with Cruising, and have been on 2 more cruises since.

SHOW US YOUR LIFE - Wedding Dress

Kelly at Kelly's Korner, is hosting a "Show us your Life - Wedding Dresses" Blog Carnival today, so I thought I would join in. I found my dress at a local bridal store but was a little higher priced than I would have liked to pay for it. So, as I was talking to the store owner, she mentioned that if I had been there that weekend, everything was 1/2 off! I couldn't believe I missed such a great sale. I asked if there was anyway that I could get the sale price, and she refused. She was only willing to take 10% off! I was so mad! So, I wrote down the style number and designer of the dress and did what any bargain hunter would do, I looked on eBay! And I found my dress for 1/2 of the retail price! It was the right color and size! I couldn't believe it. So I bought it, and just as the lady was getting ready to ship it to me, she noticed that is was a size smaller than what she had said it was! She asked if I still wanted it, and I just couldn't have the added stress of losing a whole size before the wedding, so I told her I would keep looking. She refunded our money, and I started looking again at different places. I ended up calling a Bridal Warehouse in North Carolina, and they had my dress! The right size and color and for 1/2 the price! I was so excited that I finally found my dress. I think I tried it on once a week, every week, for 6 months leading up till the wedding. It was perfect!
We got married on the top of Glassy Mountain, on a beautiful Sunday afternoon in May.

Here is the back of the dress. My mom did my bustle herself, and that was the only alteration I needed on my dress.

And just cause I love this picture, I thought I would include it.

Thanks for taking this walk down memory lane with me. Andrew and I celebrated our 5 year anniversary this past May, and what a wonderful 5 years it has been!
