Hilton Head Vacation - Day 6

Our last full day of vacation was spent doing a whole lot of nothing, with a lot of food added in. We slept in again, till about 10:00. We kinda piddled around until it was time for lunch. Our friends we ate dinner with on Thursday, highly recommended the Coligny Deli & Grill, so we figured we would check it out. It did not disappoint. I got a sub and Andrew got a hot dog. We also got a Frito pie to share. The sub was so good, and the bread was nice and fresh. Andrew said his hot dog was great. We got the Frito pie because I have always heard of it, but never actually had one. It is Frito chips, with chili and nacho cheese on top. It was actually pretty good. Not something I would eat all the time, but it was good. They also have a ice cream shop connected to the deli called the Ice Cream Cone. They had at least 30 flavors of ice cream. I was too full from lunch, but Andrew got a small cone of chocolate chip cookie dough. I did taste it, and it was good ice cream. After lunch we got our swim suites on, and headed back to the beach house. We have been riding our bikes over there almost every day. It isn't that far from the resort, and riding our bikes, is a great way to see the island. We stayed at the beach house till after 6:00. I just wasn't ready for our last day to end. We took a nice long walk on the beach, and then came back to our room, to shower and get ready for dinner. Before dinner, I wanted to get some pictures of us, and the sunset. So we walked over to the pier and got some great pictures.

When we got done taking pictures, we went to dinner. Dinner tonight was at the Santa Fe Cafe. It has come highly recommended by a lot of people, so we figured we would try it out. It was very expensive, but everything was so good! Andrew got the cowboy steak! It was huge!

A little perspective, next to Andrew's finger. He wasn't able to finish it, and here is what was left. We did get a doggie bag, but now we have to buy a cooler to take it home in. That is just too much meat to let it go to waste. I got the chicken quesadilla appetizer, which was very good. It was a smaller portion, which was perfect for me.
We have to leave tomorrow, and I am not looking forward to it. This has been a great vacation. Very Relaxing.

Hilton Head Vacation - Day 5

Thursday was a day spent entirely relaxing. We woke up late, like 10:30, put our swim suites on, and went straight to the Beach House. Andrew went and got us a sub from Publix for lunch, and then we spent the rest of the afternoon, lounging by the pool.
We have some friends from church that are also in Hilton Head this week, so we went over to their condo for a cookout. We had grilled tilapia (which Andrew said was really good), hot dogs, salads, corn on the cob, and watermelon. Everything was good, and it was a great time just hanging out with friends. After we got back from dinner, Andrew went fishing. He asked me if I would go with him, so I went. He has gone fishing at least once every day, and sometimes goes at night too. Let's just say that Andrew doesn't have the best luck when it comes to fishing. But he has the patience of a saint, so he just keeps at it. He did catch one fish on Wednesday night, but wasn't able to get a picture before he let it go. While we were out on the pier, I tried to take a picture, because it is a full moon, and looked so beautiful over the resort. But, you can't really tell that from the picture. Thursday was spent doing exactly what we came to Hilton Head to do, RELAXING!

Hilton Head Vacation Day 4

Wednesday was a pretty uneventful day. We slept in late, went and got doughnuts for breakfast, then spent the rest of the day sitting by the pool. The doughnut place was called The Flamingo House of Doughnuts, and they had a bunch of doughnuts that you would never think of. I got Boston creme, sticky bun, and jelly. Andrew got s'mores, Reece's, and Snicker. Oh My Goodness! They were so good!
The weather was very overcast all day, but it never did rain. As we were on the way to dinner there was the most beautiful sunset.

That is actually the only picture I took all day. For dinner we went for pizza at Giuseppe's. I got a slice of pepperoni and a salad. Andrew got the eggplant Parmesan and soup. Everything was really good. What a great relaxing day!

Hilton Head Vacation Day 3

Tuesday started out very early. We got up at 7:00, got ready, and were out the door by 8:00. We had to be in Savannah by 9:30 am, to get in line at Paula Deen's, the Lady and Sons restaurant. You have to be in line at 9:30, to get a reservation for lunch or dinner. We got there at 9:15, and I quickly got in line. There were only about 75 other people in line, so I knew it wouldn't be a problem getting a reservation. We were able to get a 11:00 reservation, which was perfect. We had about an hour to walk around Savannah, so we walked down by the river, and then around down town near the restaurant. We were back in front of the restaurant at 10:45, and our name was called pretty quickly after that. For lunch, they have a buffet, or you can order a entree. We each got the buffet, and everything on it was delicious: Fried chicken, baked chicken, collard greens, green beans, mashed potatoes, mac and cheese, rice and gravy, yams! For dessert we had a choice of banana pudding, gooey butter cake, or peach cobbler. I chose the gooey butter cake and Andrew got the banana pudding. Both were amazing! After lunch we went into the gift shop, and Paula Deen's son Jamie was there! He was such a nice guy, and so down to earth. It was such a treat to be able to meet him. We left Savannah right after that, and prayed that the rain would hold off, so we could spend some time at the pool when we got back. Well, the weather was perfect for most of the afternoon, except for a 30 minutes period where it rained. But the sun came back out, and we stayed at the pool till almost 6:00. After several hours at the pool, we were both ready to eat again. (Have you noticed that food is the main event of each day?) Dinner was at another local restaurant, Roast Fish and Cornbread. We had about a 45 minute wait, and again, should have waited till about 8:00 before we showed up. Dinner was very good. Andrew got the fish tacos and I got a Sweet Bird Sub (Turkey). For dessert we got a tropical parfait. It was fresh fruit with whipped coconut milk. YUMMY!! Again, I would highly recommend this place.
Here are some other pictures from today:

We had a great day, but looking forward to doing nothing the rest of the week.

Hilton Head Vacation Day 2

Monday was a very low key day. We started the day by changing rooms. We had reserved a one bedroom villa for our first night, since it was our anniversary, and the rest of the week, we will be in a studio villa. So, we slept in, and at 11:00 we checked out of our first room, and checked in to our second room. The room was ready, so we went straight to it and moved all of our luggage. Here is the main part of our room.

We unpacked and then headed out for the day. We ate lunch at the Market Street Cafe. Andrew got the she crab soup and Philly Cheese steak sub. I got the sausage, pepper and onion sub. Everything was very good. After lunch, we walked around the shops that were right next to the restaurant, then it was time to go to the spa. Andrew had a one hour massage, and I had the Queen for a day package. That was my anniversary gift from Andrew. The package included a one hour massage, facial, manicure, and pedicure. I would highly recommend Faces Day Spa. They did a great job! It was so relaxing, and a great way to spend the first full day of vacation. After the spa, I got some gelato while I waited for Andrew to come pick me up. It was ok, but not the best. Then we came back to the resort. Dinner was take out from a tiny, but very popular restaurant called the Sea Shack. From the time we got there to place our order, to the time we actually got our order, was about 45 minutes. Everything was really good, but next time, we know to wait until around 8:00 to show up. We got there right at the peak of their dinner rush. We brought our food back to our room, and enjoyed a quiet evening. We turned in pretty early, and had plans to be up at 7:00 am the next morning, so we wanted to get plenty of sleep.

Hilton Head Vacation Day 1

We arrived in Hilton Head around 1:00 pm. We went straight to the resort and checked in. Our room was ready, so we went ahead and brought all of our luggage up. When we walked in the room, this is what was waiting for me. A dozen red roses from my sweetie! The balloons are from the resort. Here are some pictures of our room: The Kitchen The living room

Once we were settled, we changed our clothes and headed to the pool. We ate lunch by the pool, and enjoyed the afternoon just lounging by the pool. Around 5:00 we went back to the room to get ready for dinner. Before dinner, we went by the beach, and there was a giant piece from a space ship, laying on the beach. Definitely not something you see everyday. Here we are, with the piece of space ship behind us. And with the ocean behind us.
Dinner was at Frankie Bones. Everything was so good. We got friend mac n' cheese bites for an appetizer. They were so good. For dinner, Andrew got the lobster mac and cheese, and I got the pork schnitzel. For dessert, we shared a cannoli and creme brulee. Everything was wonderful, and I would highly recommend eating there, if you are ever in Hilton Head. After dinner, we went back to the resort and crashed! It was a great Anniversary, and I'm looking forward to a relaxing week of vacation.
