A Work in Progress

Andrew and I have been working hard on redoing the landscaping on the side of our house. Here is the before Picture:
As you can see, everything is overgrown, and not pretty. We haven't really done anything to this area since we moved in 4 years ago. Andrew has trimmed the large shrubs once, but that is it. I think it was time for some change. Here is a picture of what it looked like after one day of pulling, and chopping, and trimming...
Big improvement, huh? And here is what it looked like after day 2...
Completely different, right? Our plan is to plant grass on the left side of the side walk, and do some nice landscaping on the right side, against the house. Andrew worked hard all day on Tuesday, but I haven't downloaded the pictures of what he got accomplished yet. It was a lot. He worked really hard. I'm so excited about how this is going to turn out. Hopefully when I get home from my girl's weekend, he will have done some more work on it. (Hint Hint...Andrew).
And just cause I think this is neat, here is a picture of all the debris we carried up to the street.
Can you see me on the other side of the pile??
That is a lot of hard work right there...
More pictures to come soon...Stay tuned...

Exciting Weekend Plans

I am super excited about this weekend! My Mom, all my sisters, myself, and 9 other ladies from my Mom's church will be going to Women of Joy in Sevierville, TN. The conference runs from Friday through Sunday. I think I am most excited about the speaker for Friday night: Kirk Cameron!!! 2 years ago, I got a picture with Candace Cameron, his sister. She was great to hear speak, and I really enjoyed her.
I am also very excited about seeing Casting Crowns in Concert.
I will give a full report when I get back. Hopefully I will have a picture of me with Kirk Cameron.

My Little Vegetable Garden

For the past 2 years, I have planted a little vegetable garden using 5 gallon buckets. Every year, I have great results, so once again, I am planting a little garden on my deck. On Saturday, I went to Lowe's and bought some Tomato, Squash, and Zucchini plants. I haven't had much luck with bell peppers or cucumbers, so I stick with what works. I also had the tops of two pineapples, so I planted those as well. I'm not sure I will ever get any fruit, but it will be neat to see. I will update every few weeks on the size of my plants, and how many veggies I'm getting off of each plant. For now, here are a few pictures of my little garden.

Dinner with the family

Last night, the whole family (minus Mom, cause she is visiting her Dad in NY) went out to dinner for Dad's Birthday. Sarah got some great pictures with her new fancy camera. This is my favorite from the night. Dad with his four girls
(You can see my new hair cut in this picture)
I have a lot more to post from this weekend. My Vegetable Garden and the progress Andrew and I are making on our Landscaping renovation are the two major events from this weekend...there will be more to come...stay tuned.

Bible Study

Last night, I started a new Bible Study with my Mom at her church. We are going through the Beth Moore Study - Esther: It’s Tough Being a Woman. I haven't gone through a Bible Study with a group of Ladies since College. I'm really looking forward to this study, and seeing what God has in store for me to learn. Have any of you ever gone through this study before?

Now we're cookin' with Gas!

I have to brag on my husband today. He completely changed out our electric stove to a Gas stove yesterday. I'm not sure what all was involved, but this is what I do know. He spent a lot of time under the house and had to make a few trips to Ace Hardware and Lowe's. There was not gas hookup where the stove goes in the kitchen, but there is now. There were pipes and fittings involved, and at one point he did need some assistance. While he was under the house, he had my Dad stand in the kitchen to connect something. (I know, I'm being very technical) I am very proud of him. The funny thing is, I wasn't allowed to be in the house while he was working, which was OK, since I had to work all day. He called me about 15 minutes before I was supposed to come home from work and told me I still couldn't come home, so I was off to the grocery store. After buying way too many groceries, (never go into a grocery store when you are hungry) this is what I came home to:Yep, he's a great catch, and he's my Man. I'm lucky to have him. Good job Andrew.

It's Baby Season!

Apparently it is Baby Season. I didn't know there was such a thing, until I received 4 baby shower invitations, all within the next month. The funny thing is, all 4 girls are having boys! So, my little crocheting fingers have been busy. Saturday was the first of the four showers. Here is a picture of the blanket that I crocheted for baby William. I also made a little hat to go with it.
Of course the question I will get asked at each shower is "So, when are you going to have a baby?" I seem to get asked that question a lot! Especially from Family. My typically answer is "Eventually" or "When my sisters stop having babies." Andrew and I are just so unsure of the future, so we are trying to focus on that, before we bring another person into this world.

I am tired of re-runs

There are only a few shows that I like to watch. Grey's Anatomy is one of those shows. Ever since I got back from Germany, they have been showing Re-runs... What is the deal? I'm ready for a new show. Thursday nights just aren't the same. Also, for the past few weeks, Desperate Housewives has been in re-runs. They are finally showing a new episode this week. Before you know it, they will all be doing the "season finale" and then we will be stuck watching re-runs all summer long. Can't they at least show new episodes during the regular season?

Thank goodness for The Office.

A little Krispy Kreme

Since the circus was right across from Krispy Kreme, we had to get a doughnut. While we were there, they started making fresh "HOT and NOW" Doughnuts. There is nothing better than a HOT Krispy Kreme Doughnut!
Here are Lindy and Clara watching the doughnuts being made.
And here they are looking really cute in their little Krispy Kreme Hats

Let's go to the Circus

Last week, my parents took all of us to the Shrine Circus. It was kinda cheesy, but surprisingly good. I didn't get many pictures, but here are just a few from the night. Lindy and Leilani enjoying the Circus
Papa, Henry, and Clara on the Elephant
There were lots of Tigers, and a big lion
