Thrift Store Finds

I have been on the look out for size 4 pants for Michael. He has the longest legs, and all of his 3T pants are getting too short. I was able to find 5 pairs of pants today at the thrift store! Now I can retire his 3t pants and not worry that my son looks like he is waiting for a flood.

Here are my great deals for the day:

Timberland corduroy pants - $2.00
2 pairs of OshKosh jeans - $2.00 / each
JK Indigo jeans - $2.00
Levi's jeans - $1.00
American Living plaid button up shirt - $1.00
2 Brand new with tags Wrangler t-shirts - $2.00 / each
OshKosh long sleeve t-shirt - $2.00

Now if only the weather would warm up, I could pull out all of his summer clothes I have waiting. Hopefully soon!

Funny Face

I might be biased, but he has got to be the cutest kid ever!

Michael's Adoption Book

Here is the adoption book I made for Michael. I love how it turned out, and I love that he will always know the story of how he became our son!

Thrift Store Finds

I went in looking for a white button up shirt for Michael to wear under his sweater vest for Easter and I found one! I was worried I might actually have to pay full retail price for one. The thrift store always comes through.

Here's what I got this week:

Van Heusen button up shirt - $1.00
Old navy short sleeve plaid button up: $1.00
Black Capri pants for me - $3.50
Polo Ralph Lauren shirt for me - $4.50

I was hoping to find some khaki Capri pants too, but no luck. Maybe next time.

Our Weekend in Charleston

This past weekend, I got to go back to Charleston to visit Jennifer and Julie. Andrew was teaching a class on Saturday, so I decided to go down with him to see my friends.

We had so much fun, and had beautiful weather all weekend. We thought it would be fun to take Michael and Coleman to the beach to let them play in the sand. Well, just because it was 75 degrees in Goose Creek, does not mean its going to be that warm on Isle of Palms. It was freezing! The wind was so cold. We only ended up staying for 30 minutes. But we did stay long enough to take some pictures.

See, don't we look freezing?

(I really wish these pictures weren't so dark)

We decided to go find a playground for the boys to play on. Jennifer has a great one in her neighborhood and the boys loved it.

Then we went back to Jennifer's house and the boys got to play outside some more. Around 5:00 Michael asked if he could go take a nap, he was wore out! So he took a nap, and Jennifer and I got to hang out and talk.

Sunday we went downtown for lunch at a Tai restaurant. It was really yummy. Then walked around for a bit and then it was time to go home.

Weekends always seem to go by so quickly and I wish we had been able to stay longer.

Surprise trip to Charleston

A few weeks ago, Jessica and I talked about surprising Jennifer for her birthday. Well it didn't work out to go the weekend right after her birthday, but we did get to go down the next weekend. I worked everything out with Doug, and he got Jennifer to come home early from work because "the garage door repair man" was coming. When we pulled up, she was so excited! The plan worked great.

Friday afternoon Julie came over with Finley and Coleman. Jessica has never met Finley, and I hadn't seen her since she was born. She is getting so big. Coleman was a little disappointed that Michael and Lydia didn't come with us.

Friday night we went downtown for dinner. We had so much fun and got to see a few local bands playing too.

Saturday morning we all enjoyed sleeping in. Since that is something we don't get to do very often. Then we went back downtown for lunch and shopping.

Since we were so close, we walked down to the harbor to see the water. It was freezing, but a beautiful view.

We had to leave Saturday night, so it was a really quick trip. But it was so much fun and we can't wait to do it again.

What's for Dinner - Pecan Chicken

This recipe is very similar to the honey pecan chicken I have posted before. Just a little different. This one was very good also.

Ingredients:

1⁄4 cup honey
1⁄4 cup course brown mustard
2 boneless skinless chicken breasts
2 oz pecan chips
Directions:

Combine honey and mustard in a small flat dish. Dip chicken in honey sauce to coat then dredge in pecans. Place in baking dish; bake at 350 degrees F for 30 minutes, or until tender.

I served it with mashed potatoes and green beans.

This one was also Michael approved.

What's for Dinner - Beef Straganoff

We had this for dinner last night and it was so yummy and so fast and easy to cook. Total cook time was 20 minutes.
It was also Michael approved! Which is always good.

Ingredients:

1 lb ground beef
8 oz sour cream
1 can cream of mushroom soup
1 teaspoon salt
1 teaspoon onion powder
1 teaspoon beef bouillon

egg noodles

Directions:
In a large skillet, cook beef until browned and crumbly; drain. Add sour cream, soup, salt, onion powder and bouillon to skillet with meat. Mix well and heat thoroughly on medium-low heat. Serve over hot noodles.
