Mother's Day 2016

I had a wonderful Mother's Day weekend!

This was in Michael when he came from school on Friday!

So sweet!

On Saturday, Andrew had the boys at home, while I went to get a pedicure! So relaxing. Then he took the boys to do some shopping while I stayed home and relaxed some more.

Sunday we were all up by 7:30, so I suggested a nice breakfast at Waffle House! Everyone filled up and then we headed to church.

I opened my card and We took a few pictures before we left.

After church we just came straight home. The weekends are hard on a baby and we are trying to keep somewhat of a schedule. We picked up food on the way home and came home and put J down for a nap.

There was also talk of chocolate covered strawberries, but I haven't seen any yet!

While he was napping, Michael and I went outside to play in the sprinkler. It was fun just the two of us, and I miss it!

It was a great Mother's Day and I feel so blessed to be able to celebrate this day. There were years I longed to be called mama, and now I have to boys calling me that!

And just for comparison, 5 years ago was my very first Mother's Day and yesterday was my first as a mama of two!

Mother's Day 2013

I love that I have a little boy who calls me Mama. It wasn't too long ago, that that was all I wanted. Mother's Day was not something I looked forward to and now it is a wonderful day, filled with Joy!

It's not about the gifts, or the lunch out, it's about being someone's mother, and that's enough for me. I did enjoy our lunch out though. When Andrew asked what I wanted, I told him a new hair dryer! Extravagant, huh? He listened, and I am the proud new owner of a brand new hair dryer! And I love it!

We had a great day spending time alone as a family, and then spending time with each of our mothers.

What can I say, I'm blessed!

My Mother's Day Gift

I finally got my Mother's Day gift in the mail today.

I love it!
And such a true statement.

Mother's Day

Here is the post I wrote last year on Mother's Day. I went back and read it last night and cried. Thinking back to where we were a year ago, it is amazing to see how far God has brought us.
Last year I was filled with hope.
This year I am filled with joy.
I am a mother!
I have a son!

And today, on my first mothers day, Andrew and I stood in front of our friends, family and church and dedicated Michael to the Lord. Michael is our gift from God that He has entrusted us to care for.
What an honor.
This is not something we take lightly, and we know that this is a huge responsibly.
But it's one that I'm happy to have.
It's something I've wanted for a long time.
I am a mother!

Happy Mother's Day!

May 9, 2010

Today is Mother's Day. It was also my due date. This is a day that I have been dreading ever since September 22, 2009, the day I heard the most horrible news, there was no baby. I haven't ever blogged about being pregnant, or about my miscarriage, simply because it was too difficult. But today, instead of sadness, anger, grief, or sorrow, I am filled with hope and a peace that only comes from God. I have been praying for the past 8 months, that God would give me His peace and hope. I fully expected to be filled with sadness today, but God provides, even when we doubt.
I was able to spend the morning with my Mom at her church, which was such a blessing. I was doing so good all morning, until a sweet lady from my Bible Study came up to me and said, "Happy Mother's Day Katie, next year." She is praying and believing that this time next year, I will be a mother. It was such a sweet thing to hear, and again, I was filled with hope. I know that God has a plan for me, and that His plan is going to be better then anything I could have ever dreamed of.
Now to Him who is able to do Immeasurably more than all we ask or imagine, according to His power that is at work within us, to Him be glory in the church and in Christ Jesus throughout all generations, for ever and ever! Amen.
Ephesians 3:20-21
